The Abstract Expression

After the Fire

Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta

Forest fires bring destruction and then, years later, beauty.

On my first visit to Waterton Lakes National Park, I was mesmerized by the trees - the stark black trunks, the grey ash and the broken branches. If you ignored the reality of the devastation from the forest fires, there was beauty in the patterns and chaos of the landscape.

I often arrived back to my hotel after a photo session and just kept clicking through hundreds, um, thousands of images, to highlight my favourites - I have a lot of favourites! I do this rather quickly - reliving the moment and thinking next time ‘I should try’…When I finally get to sleep, there are no visions of sugar plums in my head, just visions of trees!!

The wonders of Waterton.
