The Abstract Expression

Creating abstract images is a process. My preferred technique is to use my camera to take multiple images and then combine them into one. Sifting through hundreds of images helps me find the ones that look intentional rather than just ‘blurry’! Lately, I find I remember a past image that can work with a current one and on more occasions, I create textures during the sessions so I can use them later in my editing process.

I often have an image from the session in my mind that I want to work with. I also feel confident enough to let go of an image if it intuitively doesn’t feel right. That was a tough lesson and a time consuming one! Surprisingly, when I tried to replicate a result with another image or even the same one, I couldn’t. Each image seems to take on a life of its own and when it is finished, so is that particular process - until the next one.
