The Podolin Stud, a breeding farm for Gyspy Vanner horses, was a wonderful start to our time in Poland. The location felt like stepping onto an old country estate. Beautiful flowers and vines grew over most of the outbuildings. The lodge where we were staying was completely covered with greenery.

A wonderful meal and then we went to the pastures for our first session. Pretend you are standing in a field of one or two horses, and imagine a herd of horses galloping up a hill toward you - every shape and colour you could imagine. That was our experience that evening. It was like looking through a kaleidoscope of colour. Within the few short hours we were there, the light kept changing. Looking at the images later, it really felt as if we had visited on three or four separate occasions.

I wanted to add a texture that complimented the sky and with my ‘on a need to know approach’ to photoshop, I realized I had something new to learn. Not the most technically inclined, it was also a challenge to apply new techniques and to get the result I wanted. This became another of my favourite images from Poland.
