Shipwreck Beach
Well, a few parts of a shop…
A Beach in Newfoundland…
I had wanted to travel to Newfoundland with Richard Martin for a workshop on visual design for a number of years and timing always seemed to be a problem, however, in 2024, the stars aligned and off I went!
The trip was even better than I anticipated. Every aspect seemed to be well planned so that we could focus on our photography. The participants made this memorable trip as well. I also met a former participant of an online course I had taken, so that was pretty cool.
For me to enjoy a workshop, I like to have time each day to take a break, download images , have lunch and maybe even a nap (or as I call it, resting my eyes!). That was the schedule for each day for This workshop - ‘heaven’ for me. there was also the option of reviewing and editing your images with Richard between shoots and that was where you Learned What to tweak in Your current images.
We went to so many great locations to photograph - several early sunrises in the fog, deserted beaches with rocks where we stayed for hours, the harbour, a fishing village and one beach that became a favourite where this image was photographed.
When I read there was a shipwreck on the beach we were Going to next, I was pretty excited. Was it a Ship on the Shoreline? No, however, it didn't matter. We can look at the bits and pieces of metal and make up our own story. So many Photos waiting to be seen!
I probably also remember this beach because my tripod fell over, all by itself, well, I guess with a little help from me by not placing it securely and a lever broke near the ballhead. I kept thinking my old tripod fell a few times and never broke and then remembered it had never fallen on a rock!
A few tourists we did see, it was late September, seemed sort of puzzled when they asked us what we were photographing. Um , rocks! Showing them images of our creations, didn't seem to help them understand what we were doing. They would smile politely, and leave!
Newfoundland is paradise. We were blessed with amazing weather and as we drove around, I thought it was the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate! Highly recommend this province!
